Krabi Travel and Destination Guide

Restaurants in Krabi

For Thai people, food plays an essential part of their culture and day to day life, so much so that instead of asking how a person is they ask, ‘you eaten rice yet’? Krabi is home to literally hundreds of different eateries, from the restaurants attached to the 5 star hotels, to the ingenious motorbike side cars which have been transformed into tiny kitchens serving piping hot delicacies.

For reputable seafood in Ao Nang try Ao Nang Cuisine on the beachfront road, or Ao Nang Seafood for freshly caught lobster and other culinary delights.  Ao Nang is home to over fifty restaurants so there’s plenty to choose from, including many western restaurants such as the JJ Sports Bar and KR Bar.

Krabi Town has a wonderful plethora of street stalls selling everything from noodle soup to fried chicken as well as great sea food restaurants and Thai style barbecue. Down by the night market at the Chao Fa Pier you can find fantastic bakeries and Italian pizza restaurants including Bolero Pizzeria and Pizzeria Firenze. In downtown Krabi you’ll find all the western multinationals at the Vogue Shopping centre if you need burgers, ice-cream or donuts, but if you can resist the temptation the local Thai restaurants serve up all the favorites from Pad Thai to Green Curry as well as traditional southern food like the massaman curry and other delicious meals.

In Railay you can eat international cuisine at the Rayavadee hotel surrounded intricate carvings of krabi’s marine life or head to the bamboo bars and restaurants for laid back Thai and western food. Flame Tree is on both sides of a path that leads to a small shopping area. The menu includes everything from American breakfasts, to sandwiches, steaks, Thai food and ice cream. The restaurant will even prepare picnic lunches on request. Another popular spot is The Rock, located on the hill past Diamond Cave with a good view of East Railay bay,  and named after one of the most popular challenges for climbers. Even if you're not mad enough to try and climb the sheer rock face, you can still enjoy lunch and watch.

On Railay East, the restaurant at  Ya-Ya's  guest house, has built a strong reputation and now attracts people from other hotels and guest houses. One of the specialties of the house is a fresh seafood barbecue, with the catches of the day displayed on ice in front of the restaurant.
